Most websites look terrible when viewed on a mobile phone. You could be losing 30% or more potential customers if your website isn’t mobile-friendly.
The internet made an enormous impact on the way clients found and bought products. To remain competitive, businesses needed a web presence.
Now, mobile is the next wave.

There are nearly four times as many mobile phones world-wide as there are internet users. The figure is over 5 billion and increasing.
According to a study done by Nielsen in Australia in 2010, 35% of the population owns a smart-phone. That would include phones like the incredibly popular iPhone, the explosive Android market from HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Google and many others, and the traditional Blackberry.
A further 30% of the population owns an internet-capable phone that isn’t normally classed as a ‘smart-phone’.
Probably the most important statement from the Nielsen report for businesses is the following:
“The Nielsen Online Consumer report shows that Mobile internet, for the first time, reached 50% penetration amongst online Australians in 2010, and while consumption is currently modest, based on intended uptake there will be surge of activity taking place in
2011.”
That’s half the population using a mobile phone to perform some task on the internet. You can bet a good percentage of those tasks involved searching for a place to spend money. Like a restaurant to eat at while out, or a movie to see, or a bottle shop, or a petrol station, or a doctor. You get the idea. People are driving around in their cars, using their mobile devices to do internet-based searches.
For a website to be of any benefit to these people, it has to load quickly. No large images. No Flash. The iPhone browser doesn’t even support Flash. The information they need has to be readily accessible. Opening hours. Phone number. Location. Preferably with minimal scrolling. Ideally, the website should also be able to detect the brand of mobile phone being used, and adjust the display accordingly.
Now think of your website. Is it mobile-friendly? If not, 30% of your potential customers will go to another site where they can quickly find the information they require. You’ve just lost a client – and money.
We design mobile-ready websites for businesses, either as a completely new site, or attached to an existing one. Or both.
Gaining just one extra client a month will usually pay for this service. Everything else is pure profit. Maybe it’s time you contacted us?
