“Business Directions Online:  Harness the Power of the Internet to seriously improve your business performance and increase value to your customers in 2009!”

Yes, we appear to be in a recession.  Doom and gloom everywhere.  Billions of dollars wiped off the share-market.  Thousands upon thousands of workers laid off.  Hundreds of thousands of home foreclosures.

As a business, how do we cope in this economy?

An article in The Harvard Business Review states:

“Smart companies perceive not just threats in a recession but also opportunities. Their goal is to grow so they can emerge stronger from the downturn.”

The article talks about one recession-proof commodity that’s guaranteed to improve your business, even in a recession.  Why is it that some companies falter during difficult economic times, while others improve and get stronger?   Interestingly, during the recession of 2000, a third of the top companies dropped from their top spots never to recover, yet 15% of today’s leading companies got there during the recession and are still there today.

I’m sure the same will happen during the current recession.  So, what do we have to do to guarantee our survival.

According to The Harvard Business Review:

“During the Depression, these companies developed value-for-money strategies: They grew by delivering products and services that enabled hard-hit consumers to do more with the same resources and become more effective.”

In other words: they provided value.  Value is recession-proof.

At Business Directions Online we provide not only incredible value to our clients, we teach strategies and processes empowering businesses to provide great value to their customers by way of the amazing capabilities of the Internet.

For instance.  It’s amazing how many small businesses don’t have a web-presence.  Without a web site, it’s very difficult to take advantage of the new technologies to provide value to clients.   And of those that do have a web site, most are totally ineffective.  Nice maybe, but not useful business sites.

Not that we blame small businesses.  It’s confusing.  Who do you listen to?  Are those astronomical quotes to have a site made value for money?   Or can you really trust that teenager or student to build a good business site?

Enter:  Almost-free websites!
